About ALASI

At ALASI, we believe community is stronger when everyone belongs!
We’re a nonprofit on a mission to uplift and support the Latino community while making Dubois County an even better place to call home. Through education equity, expanded access, cultural celebrations, and strong advocacy, we’re building a vibrant, connected, and thriving multicultural community... Juntos!

Mission & Vision

Our mission is to remove barriers to access for the Latino population and enhance cultural competency by providing education and resources that promote equity. We celebrate culture, build partnerships, and develop resources to create a thriving community.

Our vision is to foster an equitable and culturally competent Dubois County.

The Journey

Founded in 2008 by Latinos in Dubois County, its mission is to bridge cultural gaps and celebrate Latino heritage in Southern Indiana.

In 2016, ALASI focused on building stronger relationships between Latinos and local institutions and employers.

In 2021, ALASI partnered with Vincennes University Jasper Campus, Southwest Dubois County School Corporation, and The Latino Collaboration Table, in collaboration with Sustaining Hoosier Communities, a program of the Indiana University Center for Rural Engagement. This partnership marked a major milestone: the creation of a map for the ALASI Resource Center. The result was the ALASI Resource Center Report, a strategic roadmap for opening the Resource Center.
