About ALASI

ALASI is a non-profit organization dedicated to support the Latino community and strengthening the quality of place in Dubois County, with a focus in education equity, advancing access, celebrating culture and advocacy we build a a system that supports our multicultural  community.

Mission & Vision

At ALASI, our mission is to remove barriers to access for the Latino population and enhance cultural competency by providing education and resources that promote equity. We celebrate culture, build partnerships, and develop resources to create a thriving community.

Our vision is to foster an equitable and culturally competent Dubois County.

The Journey

The Asociación Latinoamericana del Sur de Indiana (ALASI) embodies a story of cultural resilience, collaboration, and community empowerment. Founded in 2008 by Latinos in Dubois County, its mission is to bridge cultural gaps and celebrate Latino heritage in Southern Indiana.

In 2016, ALASI focused on building stronger relationships between the Latinos and local institutions and employers. A 2021 partnership with Vincennes University Jasper Campus, Southwest Dubois County School Corporation, The Latino Collaboration Table and Indiana University Center for Rural Engagement marked a major milestone with the development of a map for the ALASI Resource Center.  In September 2023 thanks to the support of our donors: German American Bank, Kimball Electronics Jasper, Menke Foundation, Farbest Foods, Old National Bank, Old National Bank Foundation, Meyer Distributing, Jasper Engines, Kimball International, Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center, Springs Valley Bank and Trust, Dubois County Community Foundation, Matrix, City of Huntingburg, OFS and Dentons Bingham Greenebaum,  The ALASI Resource Center opened its doors, providing comprehensive support for the Latino community and enhancing the quality of place for Dubois County.

ALASI's evolution highlights its efforts to leverage the knowledge, skills, and cultural assets of the Latino community and its collaborations with local and institutional partners. These efforts have helped foster mutual understanding, and create lasting impact.

Together, we strive to create impactful initiatives, provide valuable resources, and advocate for positive changes in the community.
